Updates: Things Are Coming Along!

It has been a busy past few weeks, and we are very excited to let you know how the Next Act Theatre is progressing! We cannot thank you all enough for the outpouring of support we received after our previous message. As you all know, it’s that sense of oneness that makes our community so special.

As promised, we would like to update you on what we have been working on over the last three weeks. We are currently planning to mount our first show in the spring, with auditions in late January/early February and performance dates in late April/early May. This is a very ambitious goal, but we feel it is important that the kids experience no interruption in their regular participation calendar and are confident that we can make it happen. To that end, we are in contact with a number of potential spaces and have submitted an application for the spring show’s license. The scale of the production may depend on the status of our fundraising efforts, but the show must go on!

Looking ahead, we are also in the early stages of planning a summer camp which will produce a play in a two-week intensive program. More on both of these upcoming productions as they develop!

On our road to becoming a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we have submitted our incorporation paperwork to the State and expect to hear a response within the week. We have drafted bylaws and retained counsel to assist with the rest of the process.

At the Next Act Theatre, our goal will always be to provide a safe, inclusive environment for our students to perform, as well as receive mentorship and training on all aspects of theatre production that may interest them, regardless of experience, ability, or financial status. We know that this community’s commitment to that shared goal is our secret weapon. Together, we are going to build a program that we will be proud to see flourish for many years to come.
